Quality Oilfield Products, Inc. v. Michigan Mutual Ins. Co., 971 S.W.2d 635 (Tex. App.-Houston [14th Dist.] 1998, no writ)
Mr. Eggleston and Ms. Cowart represented Michigan Mutual Insurance Company in a declaratory judgment action to determine coverage for Quality Oilfield Products, Inc.’s business interruption claim. The trial court granted summary judgment in favor of Michigan on the basis that the business interruption coverage was not triggered in the absence of a total cessation of Quality’s business operations. Quality Oilfield Products, Inc. appealed. Mr. Eggleston and Ms. Cowart represented Michigan before the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, which affirmed that trial court’s judgment. The case was one of first impression in Texas and resolved a highly contested issue in Texas insurance law.
