David's practice consists of civil litigation, with an emphasis on workers' compensation nonsubscriber and professional liability claims. David also has extensive experience in oil and gas matters, bad faith litigation and premise liability claims, as well as other general civil litigation.
David has represented numerous workers' compensation nonsubscribers in both litigation and arbitration. As part of his workers' compensation nonsubscriber practice, David has represented oil field services companies, manufacturers, grocers and trucking companies, as well as a host of others, in claims brought by injured workers.
David also has extensive experience representing clients in professional liability claims. As an example of his emphasis on professional liability litigation, David has represented a False Claims Act qui tam relator and his attorney in a breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit against one of the largest Plaintiff's law firms in the State of Texas. He also represented a well-known spokesman and national advocate for independent operators and royalty owners in the oil and gas industry in a legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit against his former attorneys. In addition, David represented an independent oil and gas company in a breach of fiduciary duty claim against its joint venture partner, both in state district court and an adversary proceeding in federal bankruptcy court.
In addition to his workers' compensation nonsubscriber and professional liability practice, David has represented numerous clients in various oil and gas matters, bad faith litigation and premise liability claims.
David received his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 1994 and worked in the oil and gas industry for several years until attending law school. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston, where he graduated with honors in 2000. While attending the University of Houston Law Center, David was an active member of the mock trial team. In addition to competing on the mock trial team, David was a finalist in the Hippard Mock Trial Competition. Upon graduation from law school, David joined Eggleston & Briscoe, becoming partner in 2007.
