Case Results

Favorable settlement during trial.
E+B represented the whistleblower in a dispute ancillary to a nationwide qui tam case alleging underpayment of royalties to the federal government by a group of major oil and gas companies producing oil and gas on federal and Native American lands. The suit alleged professional malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty on the part of various attorneys and their respective law firms in pursuit and settlement of parts of the qui tam case. After several days of trial during which evidence of potential damages in excess of several billion dollars was produced, the case was settled confidentially to the satisfaction of E+B’s client.
